Sekiranya kerata anda tidak mempunyai overdrive button (wira 1.6 mempunyai overdrive button dan tidak pada wira 1.3, 1.5,kancil), anda perlu menerima hakikat yang kereta anda tidak boleh dipandu secara aggresive. Jangan gunakan overdrive button pada kelajuan melebihi 100 km/j kerana fungsi overdrive button adalah seperti kita menurunkan gear dari gear 5 ke gear 4 apabila memotong dan tetap pada gear 4 sehingga kita offkan overdrive button. Bayangkan pada kelajuan melebihi 100 km/j kita turunkan gear ke gear 4 atau 3. Kalau kita tak bernasib baik, kita mungkin dapat mengutip segala gear dan skru bertaburan di atas jalan.
Gearbox auto proton kod F4A222 atau F4A232 kebanyakan digunakan pada proton wira/satria/putra 1.6/1.8 dan perdana sei dan V6. Dan kebanyakkan model mitsubish.
Saya cadangkan setiap dua kali tukar minyak gear box, masukkan sedikit gear treatment. Setiap kali service kereta, minta mekanik memeriksa sekali paras minyak gear box kereta anda. Pastikan ia berada melebihi paras minima. JANGAN MEMANDU SEKIRANYA PARAS MINYAK GEAR KURANG DARI PARAS MINIMA BAGI MENGELAK KEROSAKKAN GIGI GEAR.
Kelebihannya ialah Perdana masih boleh lepas pinjaman di bank. Kalau badan Perdana V6, bahagian dalamannya sudah tidak perlu buat pun tidak mengapa.
ECU ini menggantikan ECU asal. Katanya memang sedap, boost lebih tepat dan AFRnya tak pernah gagal. Kuasa ini kemudian disalurkan ke permukaan jalan menerusi kotak gear manual lima kelajuan dengan pacuan empat roda. Tak payah pikir panjang, salin terus 4WD Eterna masuk sini.

I bought a late 2004 enhanced II version mid last year. Changed all the belts and fluids a week after. I also installed an after market oil cooler. So far no major problem, only minor squeky and rattle due to the aged parts.
Kali ini saya kongsikan pengetahuan saya mengenai cara penjagaan gearbox manual dan auto. Apabila kita membeli kereta baru, semua peralatan adalah baru termasuk gear box. Dan jika kita perhatikan, ada dinyatakan apabila millage kereta kita mencecah 1,000 km, kita perlu hantar kereta untuk service pertama. Service pertama adalah check up terakhir yang sepatutnya dibuat pada semua kereta oleh pengeluar kereta. Perkara yang diperiksa pada service pertama termasuk menukar semua jenis minyak pada kereta termasuk minyak gear box. Jangan abaikan service pertama ini kerana pada masa ini minyak enjin dan minyak gear box yang mengandungi lebihan besi atau habuk besi di dalam enjin akan dibuang bagi mengelakkan enjin dan gear box terhakis.Bagi yang membeli kereta secondhand, apa yang perlu dibuat, tukar minyak gear box sebaik sahaja anda membeli kereta tersebut dan rekodkan bacaan millage kereta anda. Bagi auto, setiap 15,000 atau 20,000 km, tukar minyak gear box anda.Bagi manual, setiap 40,000 atau 50,000 km tukar minyak gear box anda.
I wouldn't recommend a Perdana even for long distance dricing since based on my personal experience, the gearing is a bit low. 3k rpm for 110km/h and FC's pretty bad for me. About RM40+ for KL-Melaka at 110km/h. However keep it at 100 km/h using cruise control possible to drop FC down to RM30/= for the same route (Checked 3 trips already). Besides that, there's a tendency to float at 120km/h and above.
As i read, most people would say the engine has high fuel consumption. Is that true? 3) What about mivec engines? Can perdana used any mivec engine? If can, would it come from the FTO? How about the fuel consumption and maintenance for the mivec engine? Thanks in advance.
About the gearbox issue, it depends on how you treat and drive the car. Installing an ATF cooler might expand its lifespan, but does not totally eliminate the issue. Well.i am so so so when u tell me abt this price. I quickly go to the website to have a look!!! They said it is updating the price.

Lagipun, kalau memang nak tukar enjin dan kotak gear, barang-barang lama V6 ada harga apabila hendak dijual balik. V6 memang terkenal dengan kotak gearnya yang lemau itu. Ramai mekanik kata masalah itu berpunca daripada kegagalan reka bentuk.
Jadi, dia memiilih enjin 4G63 EVO III. Tidak ada masalah, mountingnya pun sama. Enjin ini kemudian dirojakkan dengan kepala selinder daripada VR4. Bloknya dikahwinkan dengan kebuk Pajero 2.4 dengan piston yang dipakai daripada enjin 2J.
Needless to say the executive feels heavy but its more stable. The enhanced is quieter, has better NVH, more has a more comfortable interior.
Perdana car is pron of gearbox and others like the power windows always like to be failure, power windows switch always kaput, the central locking is bad ( easily to spoilt ), and worst still the engine mounting need to be changed every year. Gear 2, 3 dan L adalah untuk kegunaan mendaki iaitu apabila kereta kita tidak dapat mendaki cerun yang curam. Paras gear ini hanya untuk kegunaan kelajuan rendah (bergantung pada jenis kereta).

All in all my V6 served me well. The Perdana in my opinion is almost-a-sports-sedan. Now, if only it was rear-wheel drive. I've always liked the look, both the Alfa'd version and the old one.
Haha but so sayang to buy now la, cuz theres a lot of perdana selling 2nd hand wif much lower prices than da new one. But i have no comment, some people agrees tat new car is better. Juz my opinion. Changed all the belts and fluids a week after. I also installed an after market oil cooler. So far no major problem, only minor squeky and rattle due to the aged parts. I have noticed when driving up to Getting twice during the last year, the engine oil temperature went up a bit and then came down as the fans kick in. Fuel consumption wise, I am constantly getting about 9-10km per litre. The best I had archieved was the trip to Jb from Kl, full tank when I was in Kl, detour to Jpo, then Jb, topped up 35 litre petrol. I was using 97 RON though.

Most people I know or talked to who's driven the V6 version have no qualms about the engine. Except that it kinda lacks low-end torque but still better than a Campro. And the fuel consumption is somewhat high from what most people say. Someone here mentioned 10.x km/litre for city driving, right? I find that surprisingly good for a Perdana!

Penukaran gear dari tinggi ke rendah juga mesti mengikut kelajuan yang disarankan oleh pengeluar.Sekiranya terdapat lelehan atau kebocoran minyak atau minyak keluar dari gearbox anda, jangan panik, gear box anda tidak rosak, kemungkinan cuma oil seal gear box sudah 'mati'.

Now I know that's an illegal speed but sometimes overtaking and getting out of the way for others sometimes require higher then normal speed limits right? Worse than e200 w124? How bad is it i manage to clock 500kms per full tank for city road if my right foot is light (ard rm90) [average 400-450kms when my right foot is heavy] and KL->JB->KL within 1 full tank i dun think that's call bad for the floating issue, i've never experienced before sometimes when i am driving back to JB alone, i speed up to 150km/h (1-2pax + light luggage) it's pretty good for me add some Ultra Racing Bars will help btw, mine is 2003 facelift model (a.k.a alfa model) This post has been edited by driftmeister: Sep 11 2007, 10:19 PM.

Hello ZTH forumers, I own Perdana V6 2001 that is 2nd hand car,just bought it 3 months ago.Now the gear box got some problem, sometimes when I maintain the speed at 80-90 km/h suddenly the gear will drop to 3rd gear with some 'jerking' and then will go to 4th gear again.And lately the problem come seriuosly when it will not go to 4th gear as it will maintain at 3rd gear.I need to stop and off the engine and then start it again.This happened when I drive more than 10km (if from home to office not happend bcoz just 5km). I went to see my pomen already and he said that maybe got problem with auto gear clutch (if I'm not mistaken) and now he's trying to get spare part from his friend's old gearbox (because already change to MT). My question is: 1) What is the best solution? Repair or change the gearbox to new one? If get repair, can it will be ok 100%? 2)Is it worthy change AT to MT? How perfect the conversion?What is the cost?How save the fuel if compare auto to manual?

I actually really like the design of the perdana v6, the previous one, not the one wit the alfa grill (i hate the alfa grill facelift). My auntie used 2 have one in silver (i prefer the silver than the black), n its really comfortable. Its quiet, spacious n 2 drive its quite nice. It feels torquey n smooth, but the steering's a bit too light. Overall a good car, except 4 the problematic gearbox that is. It also looks stunning in white.

Anyway, some people say that the first batches of Perdana V6 ('99 and '00) were better because of high content of Japanese parts/components (before the Malaysian component sub-contractors were able to make the local parts for the V6). All in all my V6 served me well. The Perdana in my opinion is almost-a-sports-sedan. Now, if only it was rear-wheel drive. I've always liked the look, both the Alfa'd version and the old one. I tend to like low sedans (another example would be the 5th gen Accord, R33 and R34 Skyline sedans). Most people I know or talked to who's driven the V6 version have no qualms about the engine.
Walaupun Mitsubishi Jepun tak pernah mengaku dan tak pernah saya tahu ada Proton buat ‘recall’ untuk model ni. Sebab itu jugalah saya sangat menyokong kalau ada siapa-siapa yang nak main kereta ni. Tidak perlu pikir panjang, terus guna kotak gear manual sahaja. Mahal sikit tak apa janji kepala tak sakit. Kotak gear automatiknya kalau jenis rosak pasal ‘slip’ tak apa lagi. Ini tidak, jenis masuk D terus tak ada gear langsung. Kereta Rozaidi ini adalah contoh ubah suai enjin yang agak ekstensif untuk sebuah kereta yang sebenarnya orang jarang buat upgrade enjin.

I got so frustrated then converted the engine with manual transmission. Now no more headache bout the gearbox. The fuel more save then my previous SEI AT even its a TT engine.but with normal drive lah. Its depends on you now. If you want the performance n fuel saving, then go to MT.if not just stick to AT but try to install the ATF cooler, good maitainance & driving style also will affect the AT gearbox. Change the spring will make ur car look sporty & better handling. But changing the spring will oso makes u a bit uncomfortable or bumpy (depends how hard your suspension) and oso the parts will affected is your driveshaft & lower arm.
