Your serial number tells you the consecutive number of production, the type of tree (W,E,H,or S) and the date of manufacture. • W= Wellep trees, which haven’t been used by Schleese since the mid 1990’s. After 2000 W is designated for use on our Western Trail saddles • E = regular laminated wood English spring trees (used mainly in the JES Pros, also in the 1990’s – not very adjustable) • H = Hennig adjustable tree, used until the mid 2000’s at which point Hennig began using a different material in his trees with shorter tree points. Schleese reps will generally not make any adjustments to these trees other than reflocking due to the damage these shorter tree points can cause. • S = Schleese patented AdapTree® – generally considered to be the most adjustable and equine conformation-friendly tree available today.
For example, an “A” means that the flap is +2 inches more forward than a standard flap and “AA” means the flap is +4 inches more forward. I am assuming being gaited your horse may have 'A' shape to his shoulders, but then I have seen the inverted 'U' shape on gaited horses, too. That will drastically change your options. That being said, if your horse is 'A' shaped, a County may work very well for you.if your horse has some curve to his/her back. I have a County Competitor 2004 that is a lovely saddle, fit my fjordieX perfect and me. Does not fit my AQHA mare at all, even though it is very wide. So, time for you and your horse to try on saddles.

Easy to do and you can sent off drawings to different stores if needed. I sent my saddle out on consignment somewhere 'local', and just got a Toulouse Marianne from Classic Saddlery to try. And, yes it is a wool stuffed saddle, not like some of the older Toulouse. Lynnda and I have spent lots of time on the phone, emails and sending pictures and tracings back and forth. I highly recommend working with her on trying to fit your horse if you need to do it long distance. Now, to fit the new saddle to my horse this morning.

In the case of a saddle tree with a narrow set fitting for a horse with a slim body shape, the gullet plate does not deform in a V-shape but remains in a rounded shape to prevent jamming the withers. Of particular importance is the fact, that because of the seamless connection of gullet plate and stirrup bar the pressure caused by mounting the horse is distributed evenly over the whole saddle tree – this prevents the saddle tree from deforming. A deforming of the saddle tree, occurs in many saddles over a long time period and may result in a tilting of the rider´s seat which of course would have negative consequences for the rider and the horse. The Medico seat, a V-cut in the saddle tree, always swings with the movement, thus relieving the rider’s spinal column and seat muscles. In particular, the sensitive area around the ischium and the pubic bone are protected by the increased flexibility of the saddle tree. To achieve an even better seat experience for the rider, the stirrup bar is mounted closer to the saddle tree.
